Get to know me
I was born and grew up in Detroit, Michigan USA. I have traveled to various countries around the world, and have settled in Lübeck, a northern German city. I know hands down what it means to be a fish out of water – and more importantly, I know what it means in practice, not only theory, how to successfully apply concepts and knowledge from one culture to another. Being successful in a new environment does not mean giving up your old values or ideas. It is learning new ideas, and then integrating your values into the new system to create the most beneficial outcome. For me, it is vital not only to seek out commonalities, but also to acknowledge, recognize and respect differences.

Background
I created a successful language school in Germany teaching clients how to communicate like a native speaker in another language. Our focus is on training people in international companies, using real life situations, real language and not a cookie cutter (one size fits all), lesson plan from a book. We apply this same method when consulting. We give readily applicable, concrete solutions to real challenges– challenges and frustrations frequently mentioned by students during language lessons. As a consultant, and part of our strategy, I combine my qualification as a business anthropologist and my on-the-ground experience of living and working in different cultures. This enables me to help corporations identify and solve the cultural problems within their organizations.
